Historic Downtown Van Alstyne

Established in 1873 along the Houston and Texas Central Railway, Historic Downtown Van Alstyne is a charming, walkable district featuring century-old buildings, unique shops, and local dining.

The city of Van Alstyne has committed over $20 million toward various downtown redevelopment and infrastructure projects. Our Central Social District Park won the Texas Downtown Association Award for best public improvement in a town under a population of 50,000 as well as the 2024 Merit Award in Landscape Architecture from the Texas American Society of Landscape Architects.

No community of this size has dedicated more resources and effort to revitalize its central business district. VA CEDC offers a grant program to assist with façade and building renovations and works with local building owners to help market their properties for new projects; the City of Van Alstyne created a Tax Increment Reinvestment Zone (TIRZ) to provide funds for improvements.

If you are interested in hearing about current projects and available properties/buildings, please contact VA CEDC.
